BHUBANESWAR: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said the ensuing BJP National Executive meeting here in the State Capital would have no impact on the people of Odisha.
“I think, it (BJP’s meet) will not have any impact on people of the State,” the CM said while replying to a query on whether the saffron party’s mega political event will impress Odisha people.
The CM said this before he left for a five-day tour to New Delhi. He is scheduled to return on April 11. Naveen, who will attend the Inter-State Council meeting at New Delhi on Sunday, said he would also meet several Union Ministers over different works of Odisha Government.
Replying to another question, Naveen said he will probably meet the party MPs in Delhi. The CM’s proposed meeting with the BJD MPs assumes importance following the Twitter spat between two senior MPs of the party.
Talks of several senior leaders from BJD and Congress joining BJP ahead of the National Executive meet is also doing the rounds in political circles here. Union Minister Jual Oram had claimed that some BJD MPs and MLAs have been in regular contact with the BJP leadership and contemplating to join the saffron party. Oram also claimed that some former MPs and ex-MLAs of both BJD and Congress are also planning to join the BJP.
