Playback singer Pranab Patnaik to get Jayadev Puraskar

Veteran playback singer Pranab Kishore Patnaik will be honoured with the prestigious Jayadev Puraskar for 2016.Announcing the 28th State Film Awards here on Monday, Culture Minister

BHUBANESWAR: Veteran playback singer Pranab Kishore Patnaik will be honoured with the prestigious Jayadev Puraskar for 2016.Announcing the 28th State Film Awards here on Monday, Culture Minister Ashok Panda said, Patnaik has been chosen for the award for his lifetime contribution to Odia film industry. Jayadev Puraskar carries a cash award of `1 lakh, citation and a trophy. The State Film Awards are given by the Culture Department.

For 2016, Sundar Mohan Dev Goswami Award for the best film will go to Navajivan Films produced “Chini.” It carries a cash award of `50,000 besides the citation and trophy.
Ajay Rath has been nominated as best director for “Namard” while Samaresh Routray will receive the best actor for the film. The best actress award will go to Sushri Sangita Mohapatra (Lipi) for the film “Mimansa.”Similarly, the best supporting actress award will go to veteran actress Mahashweta Roy for her role in “Dele Dhara Katha Sare” while Minaketan will receive the best supporting actor for “Mimansa.”
The Balakrushna Samman for best music director has gone to Goodli Rath for “Tu Kahibu Na Mu” while Dillip Kumar Choudhury will receive the award for best story for “Namard.”

The awards for best playback singer in female and male categories will go to Mahalaxmi Iyer (Mimansa) and Shashank (Tu Kahibu Na Mu) respectively.Dilip Ray has been nominated for Pramod Pati Samman for best cinematography for “Chini” while Sukumar Mani will get best editing Award for “Love You Jessica.”Subrat Swain has won the best lyricist award for “Agastya” while Dilip Kumar Choudhury will receive the best screenplay award for “Namard.”

The award for best actor in a comic role will go to Chitta Ranjan Tripathy for “Love You Jessica” while Tithirupa Bohidar has been nominated for the best child artiste award for “Chini.”The other notable winners include Deben Amat (best art director for Chini, Subash Sahoo (best sound recording for Mimansa) and Bijita Bag (special jury award for Namard).A seven-member jury, headed by retired IPS officer Bipin Bihari Mishra, selected the winners for the State Film Awards.Winners of the 5th Tele Awards were also announced on the occasion.
