BHUBANESWAR: Ever wondered, if the midnight charm, akin to Mumbai, can also set Bhubaneswar in motion? It did happen this weekend at the city’s first-of-its-kind fashion and food carnival at Hotel Crown in Nayapalli area.
The two-day event which concluded on Sunday, witnessed an impressive footfall. Decked up with strings of dazzling lights, the lawn had a huge LeD screen installed at its centre and music, ranging from trance to peppy Bollywood numbers, played by the in-house DJ, completed the open-air party look.
After splurging on branded apparels, the GenX grooved a little to the tunes of ‘Tere Raskhe Kamar’ or ‘Sweety Tera Drama' as they tucked in delicacies. “The food fest here reminds me of beach parties in Goa,” Jhimili Pattnaik, a visitor, said.
A lot of visitors felt that the event showcased designer collections in ‘true sense.’ “The dresses and gowns that are being sold here are authentic designer wears,” said Bhadra Mahapatra of Nayapalli.
The fashionistas had a chance to bag the celebrity picks as well. For instance, a designer from Jaipur, Pasha showcased her unique dress-cum-jumpsuit collection that were apparently worn by Malaika Arora and Sania Mirza. “The flip-flop jumpsuit-cum-dresses are best for cocktail parties. I also have a dhoti-cum-saree outfit with floral prints,” said Pasha.
“All the collections are unique. You will not get the handmade leather footwear, styled with handloom, or the jewellery collection flaunted by models at Lakme India Fashion Week, elsewhere in the city. Also, we have a stall of Polished saloon. You just have to book online and the SPA therapist is at your doorstep,” said Amarapali Dutta, the organiser.
