Rourkela: Newborn girl rescued from dry stream bed

A newborn girl was rescued from the sand bed of a dried stream in Bonai sub-division of Sundargarh district. 

ROURKELA: A newborn girl was rescued from the sand bed of a dried stream in Bonai sub-division of Sundargarh district. She was later admitted to Sick Neo-Natal Unit (SNCU) of Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) in a critical condition on Saturday afternoon.Reports said villagers informed Tikayatpali police in Bonai sub-division about the baby being left partially buried on the dried sand bed of Bishnudihi Nullah of Tileimal village on Saturday morning. It is suspected that an unwed mother or her family members might have partially buried the baby early on Saturday.

After rescuing the baby, police sent the infant to Bonai Sub-Divisional Hospital for preliminary treatment. Subsequently, police gave custody of the baby to Childline and shifted her to RGH for treatment.
Childline Coordinator Amber Alam said the baby is in critical condition.

Newborn’s body found in Banki village
Cuttack: Body of a newborn baby boy was found at Sundhi Sahi in Barhampura village under Banki police limits on Saturday. Some locals spotted the newborn lying on a heap of manure and informed police. Police rushed to spot, seized body and sent it to Banki Sub-divisional Hospital for post-mortem. Investigation is on to ascertain the identity the parents of the child, police said.
