Odisha: One of four persons injured in yesterday's attack near Bijepur dies

Sahu who was driving the vehicle of Subrat Singh, the elder brother of the minister when the attack took place died yesterday night.

BHUBANESHWAR: Dileswar Sahu, one of the four injured persons in yesterday's attack on minister of state for labour Sushant Singh's brother near Bijepur assembly constituency in Bargarh district, died while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Sahu who was driving the vehicle of Subrat Singh, the elder brother of the minister when the attack took place died yesterday night. He had sustained injuries on his head during the attack on Subrat's vehicle. Three other injured persons are undergoing treatment at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today paid homage to Dileswar at the BJD state headquarters here.         "The attack on Subrat Singh and his associates is an extremely inhumane act. It has deeply shocked me.

Such barbaric incidents would not be tolerated in a peaceful state like ours. Stringent action would be taken against the guilty," he told mediapersons. He announced that the ruling BJD will take care of all expenses of the kin of Sahu, including his children's education.

Stating that Dileswar was associated with BJD since a long time, Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya demanded stringent action against persons who attacked the minister's brother and three others and all those who were involved in the conspiracy. 

He also requested the police to take action against the culprits as an FIR has also been filed on the incident.  Several other senior BJD leaders including vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra, agriculture minister Pradip Maharathi, minister of state for higher education Anant Das, former ministers Padmanabha Behera, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Arun Sahu and state secretary Binay Nayak paid homage to Dileswar.

The four persons were injured in an attack by a group of unidentified men in Banabira area, near the Bijepur assembly constituency on Thursday night.
