ECoR awareness drive for Rath Yatra

The railways administration has urged the passengers to avoid train journey on footboard, buffers and rooftop of train compartments for their safety.

BHUBANESWAR: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched a special awareness drive for passengers travelling in overcrowded trains. The railways administration has urged the passengers to avoid train journey on footboard, buffers and rooftop of train compartments for their safety.Passengers have been requested not to take food and drinking items from strangers, carry any inflammable items like gas cylinder, stoves and even cigarettes and matchbox, touch suspicious things like tiffin box and baggage.

The ECoR has also urged the passengers and voluntary organisations to take care of co-passengers and counsel those who are leaning from the running trains and not adhering to rules and guidelines.An official said, Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff have been advised to take measures like crowd control and keep a watch on touts and anti-socials particularly in crowded areas like booking and PRS counters, enquiry counters and tourist complexes.

The Railways have arranged exclusive amenities for the convenience of passengers. Special trains, extra ticket counters, additional enquiry counters and information centres, mela shed, catering and drinking water, sanitation, medical assistance booth, safety and security arrangements have been provided.This apart, level crossings gate management and manpower mobilisation have been made for smooth operation of trains and crowd management. Passengers can dial railway security helpline 182 to report cases of passenger’s security and unsavoury situation during train journey.

“We have also been extending help to temple administration with trained workforce and break-down materials for any possible breakdown of chariots during Rath Yatra,” the official said.Pilgrims and passengers have been requested to use mobile apps like Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) app and Rath Yatra app - ECOR Yatra so that they can ascertain all information by Railways and book unreserved journey tickets by avoiding rush at counters.
