More rain in store

Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, informed that heavy rains will occur at isolated places in north Odisha in the next 24 hours. “Most places in the State will witness rainfall in the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in North Odisha in the next 24 hours.

However, the intensity will reduce by July 18,” said Director, Regional Meteorological Centre, HR Biswas. The weather forecasters informed that heavy rains are likely to occur in Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and other places in the next 24 hours. The chief amount of rainfall on Monday was recorded in Chandbali with 51 mm rains, followed by 48 mm rains at Sambalpur. While, the Capital received about 32.7 mm rainfall on Monday.

Regional Meteorological Centre apprised that another low pressure will form over north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on July 19. “Another low pressure will like form over north Bay of Bengal on July 19 and this would lead to increase in rainfall activity in coastal areas of the State. Subsequently, the rains might occur at most places in the State,” Biswas said. The forecasters also issued a warning for fishermen asking them not to venture into sea.
