Odisha Class 12 exam results: 84.93 per cent of students clear Science, 81.12 in Commerce

BHUBANESWAR: An overall pass percentage of 84.93 per cent and 81.12 per cent was reported in Plus II Science and Commerce streams, the results of which were announced by the Council of Higher Secondary Education on Wednesday.

Announcing the results, School and Mass Education Minister Sudam Marandi and Secretary Aswathy S informed that in the Science stream, 78,938 students cleared the examination of the total 93,734 who had appeared for it.

The highest pass percentage of 96.41 in the stream was reported by Nayagarh district and the lowest of 61.55 by Gajapati. Like the previous years, girls recorded a higher pass percentage of 85.67 compared to boys at 84.25.

As far as divisions are concerned, 39,573 students passed with the first division and 24,257 with the second division. Around 14,852 students remained in the third-division bracket.

As many as 291 higher secondary schools reported 100 per cent results and only two reported zero per cent results. There are a total of 1,050 higher secondary schools offering science to students in the State. Compared to 2022 when the pass percentage of Science stood at 96.12, there has been a decline of 11.19 pc this year.

Similarly, for the Commerce stream, 24,082 students had written the examination and of them, 19,536 cleared it. Here too, Nayagarh reported the highest pass percentage of 93.9 whereas, Boudh posted the lowest of 55.5 per cent.

As many as 7,410 students were placed in the first division, 4,543 in the second division and 7,492 in the third division. In this stream too, 83.87 per cent of girls cleared the examination while the pass percentage of boys stood at 79.52.

There are 410 higher secondary schools in the State offering teaching in Commerce and of them, students of 94 schools scored 100 per cent results. No schools reported a zero pass percentage. In the Commerce stream too, the overall pass percentage was reduced by 8.1 pc.
