BHUBANESWAR: Eminent theatre personality Ananta Mohapatra, cinematographer Srinivas Mohapatra and noted comedian Jayiram Samal will receive the prestigious Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami Award for their lifetime contribution to Odia cinema for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.
This was informed by Odia Language, Literature and Culture minister Suryabanshi Suraj during the announcement of Odisha State Film Awards for the three years here on Thursday. The three awardees will receive a cash award of Rs 5 lakh and citations.
‘Saheed Raghu Sardar’, ‘Pratiksha and Dalchini’ and ‘Daman’ have been named as best films for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Debasish Patra and Kabya Kiran Shukla will receive the best actor and actress awards respectively for their performances in ‘Saheed Raghu Sardar’, which tells the story of freedom fighter Raghu Sardar’s life and struggles. Biswanatha Patnaik will get the best script writer award for the film.
Amlan Das will get the best actor award and Rakesh Samal the best director for their movie ‘Romeo Raja’ for the same year. In fact, ‘Romeo Raja’ has won five more awards in different categories. Film historian Surya Deo will receive the award for ‘Best Writing on Odia Cinema’ for his book ‘Kali Paein Kalira Cinema’.
For 2021, Ankit Kumar for ‘Bhoka’ and Dipanwit Dashmohapatra for ‘Pratikshya’ have won the best actor awards. Suryamayee Mohapatra has been adjudged the best actress for ‘Dalchini’. While Suresh Patnaik has won the best director award for ‘Trushna’, writers Ranjan Das and Gourahari Das will get the best story award for ‘Bhoka’ and ‘Pratikshya’ respectively.
For 2022, Babushan Mohanty will be awarded as the best actor for ‘Daman’, which narrates the story of a doctor who goes out of his way to bring healthcare to tribals in interior and inaccessible pockets of Malkangiri district. Lopamudra Mishra will get the best actress award for her film ‘Boura Hata Baksha’.
The State Film Awards will be given away in 33 categories for the year 2020, 2021 and 2022. The jury for the awards inculded Sabyasachi Mohapatra, Ananta Mohapatra, Gopal Mohapatra, Banaja Mohanty, Amaresh Patnaik and Sekhar Ghosh.
