PURI: Anticipating huge rush of devotees at Shree Jagannath temple on Kartik Purnima, the Puri administration has made elaborate arrangements to facilitate smooth darshan of the Trinity.
Puri SP Vineet Agrawal said around 37 platoons of police force have been deployed for maintenance of law and order and smooth conduct of rituals. Special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
Apart from regular parking areas, temporary parking sheds have been set up at various places of the town.
As devotees are expected to take their holy bath at Mahodadhi (a five km stretch of the Puri beach from Swargadwar to Chakratirth), scores of life guards have been mobilised in the area to prevent incidents of drowning. This apart, CCTV cameras have been installed at crucial locations to monitor crowd movement. A traffic advisory has also been issued in this regard.
Chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arabinda Padhee said servitors have been asked to perform rituals on time. “Three CCTV cameras have been installed at the Singhadwar of the temple to keep a tab on entry of devotees and check unfair practices,” he added.
District magistrate Siddharth Shankar Swain advised devotees to take assistance of life guards while bathing and sailing boats in the sea and other water bodies on the occasion.
