ANGUL: Angul SP Rahul Jain on Wednesday ordered a probe into allegations of mental harassment levelled by a woman havildar posted in the reserve office.

The havildar had met the SP on Monday and informed him that she would resign from service, citing continuous harassment and mental stress. She alleged that the reserve inspector and force section officer had been subjecting her to mental harassment at the workplace.

In her complaint, the havildar said despite performing her duties with sincerity and integrity, the situation had become unbearable and was adversely affecting her mental well-being and professional performance.

She requested the SP to accept her resignation and take appropriate action against the accused officers. The havildar further alleged that she was denied leave and mistreated by the officers in front of junior staff.

Acting on her complaint, the SP directed deputy superintendent of police Jogeswari Behera to conduct an inquiry into the allegations. Jain said the department’s internal complaints committee is simultaneously examining the matter. Action will be taken against those found guilty after the inquiry reports are submitted, he added.
