BHUBANESWAR: Vedanta Aluminium has enabled irrigation on over 800 acre farmland in Kalahandi district, benefiting more than 9,000 people in 41 villages through its integrated watershed initiative ‘Sangam’.
Designed to address water scarcity, the project has adopted a scientific and community-centric approach to watershed management.
The programme focuses on the revival of traditional waterbodies, creation of sustainable irrigation infrastructure and efficient capture of monsoon runoff.
The initiative has conserved over 11 lakh cubic meter water recharge through the development of 61 water structures.
Vedanta Alumina Business CEO Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said, “Through project Sangam, we are integrating scientific watershed management with community participation to create enduring water assets.” ens
