

BHUBANESWAR: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik and leaders cutting across party lines condoled the demise of legendary Odia playback singer Pranab Patnaik. In a post on X, the Governor expressed deep grief and said, “His soulful voice and timeless contribution to Odia music will remain cherished for generations. His demise is a great loss to Odisha’s rich cultural heritage,” he said.
The chief minister said Patnaik’s enchanting voice and timeless composition would remain immortal in the hearts of Odia people. “I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of the great vocalist Pranab Patnaik, who had enchanted all of Odisha with his soul-stirring voice.
This unparalleled musical maestro, adorned with numerous honours such as the Jayadev Award, the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, and the State Film Award, has left an irreplaceable void in the world of Odia art and culture,” he said.
Stating that his singing style and melodious voice has made many Odia songs immortal, Naveen said Patnaik’s contribution to enriching the music world will remain forever memorable. “In this sorrowful time, I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members while praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul,” he said.
Former Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, national BJP vice-president Baijayant Panda, state BJP president Manmohan Samal, president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Bhakta Charan Das, veteran Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik and leaders across all political parties expressed deep sorrow over Patnaik’s demise.
