BHUBANESWAR: The state government has selected 2,033 villages in all the districts to be developed under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) over a two-year period from 2026-27.
Official sources said the Centre will provide Rs 21 lakh for each selected village under the scheme. Of this, Rs 20 lakh will be provided for critical infrastructure requirements which are not covered under any other central or state government scheme and Rs 1 lakh will be meant for administrative expenses. In 2025-26, 1,519 villages had been declared model villages in the state. The programme focuses on rural development, livelihood generation and skill development.
The implementation of the scheme was discussed at a high-level meeting presided by chief secretary Anu Garg. The meeting examined programmes being implemented through the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare department and the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities department.
