BHUBANESWAR: Union minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi on Wednesday advised Odisha government to organise ‘Tithi Bhojan’ in anganwadi centres to strengthen nutrition initiatives.
‘Tithi Bhojan’ is a community-driven initiative for providing nutritious food, such as millets, fruits or sweets. It encourages voluntary contributions on special occasions like birthdays or festivals to improve student nutrition and hygiene.
After reviewing various schemes and programmes of the Women and Child Development department, she said coordinated efforts between citizens and the government can significantly help eliminate malnutrition in the state.
Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida said comprehensive empowerment of women and safe future for children are the state government’s foremost priorities.
The fourth installment of Subhadra scheme will be credited to beneficiaries’ accounts on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, she added.
