CUTTACK: The Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) on Wednesday launched a statewide protest seeking fulfillment of its 10-point charter of demands.
The protest, which coincided with the National Doctors’ Day, has been launched seeking implementation of the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme as per the central pay structure from the date of eligibility, proportionate cadre restructuring, incremental incentives for super specialty, specialists, diploma holders and administrators, postmortem allowance, implementation of three-year exist policy in KBK and TSP areas, construction of Capital Hospital-II in Bhubaneswar, strengthening of safety and security measures including revision of Odisha Medicare Act, regularisation of ad-hoc doctors and provision of comprehensive health insurance for all healthcare personnel.
Junior doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital on the day wore black badges while performing duty to extend their support to the strike. SCB junior doctors’ association president Dr Chinmay Kumar pradhan said the government failed to fulfil the assurances made during the previous protests. He further threatened that the association will intensify its agitation if the demands are not fulfilled soon.
“Despite earlier commitments, OMSA’s long-standing demands remained unfulfilled. We will intensify our agitation if the demands are not met soon,” he said.
