Odisha man dies during treatment, family alleges negligence
BERHAMPUR: A 23-year-old man died after he was allegedly administered a wrong injection at the community health centre in Boudh’s Purunakatak on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Subrat Nayak of Purunakatak. His family claimed that Subrat had gone to the CHC at Purunakatak earlier in the day for treatment of itching on his hands. After examining him, a doctor reportedly prescribed an injection. Accordingly, he was administered the injection at the CHC.
However, Subrat’s condition deteriorated soon after and he lost consciousness. The CHC administration informed Subrat’s family, who rushed to the hospital and took him to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Boudh, where he was declared him brought dead.
Subrat’s family alleged negligence in treatment and staged a demonstration at the DHH. Police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
CDMO Dr MK Sahu assured the family that action would be taken if anyone is found guilty, after which they called off the protest.
