KENDRAPARA: A 22-year-old youth allegedly killed his elderly uncle with a spear in an inebriated condition following a family dispute at Mahasahani village under Aul police limits here on Thursday night.
Police said accused Karuna Das was arrested on Friday on charges of murdering his 65-year-old maternal uncle Giridhari Das.
Karuna reportedly returned home in an inebriated state following which his mother reprimanded him. In a fit of rage, he allegedly attempted to assault his mother. When Giridhari intervened to prevent the attack, the accused struck him with a spear, said police.
The elderly man sustained grievous injuries to his chest and was rushed to Aul community health centre (CHC) by villagers. However, he was declared dead by the doctor.
After receiving information, police reached Mahasahani village and arrested Karuna. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to attacking his uncle with the spear in a fit of rage. Police seized the blood-stained weapon from the spot, said Aul IIC Antrajami Srichandan. ENS
