

CHENNAI: Hundreds of fans bid a tearful adieu to villain par excellence of Tamil cinema M N Nambiar, as his mortal remains were consigned to flames on Thursday. The actor passed away at his residence in Gopalapuram here on Wednesday.
Earlier, political leaders, including BJP state unit president Ela Ganesan, senior party leaders S Thirunavukkarasar and Pon Radhakrishnan, DMDK chief Vijayakanth’s wife Premalatha and MGR Kazhagam president Rama Veerappan, paid homage to the actor.
Film personalities including Manorama, Bhagyaraj, Shobana, S Ve Shekher, Ilayaraja, Vairamuthu and Vivek, directors Shankar, S P Muthuraman and T Vasu, T Rajendar, Karthik, Vijay, Khushboo, Y G Mahendra , Prakash Raj and director Bharathiraja’s son Manoj, and media baron Sivanthi Aditan paid floral tributes to the veteran actor, who ruled the silver screen for decades.
Fans thronged Nambiar’s residence to catch a last glimpse of him.
Later, Nambiar’s body was taken in a flower-decked vehicle to Besant Nagar crematorium, where the last rites were performed by his son and senior BJP leader Sukumaran Nambiar.
