Addressing members of the business community at a lunch meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the city, Michelle said that India and Chile should work towards shaping a common future in the new world economic order in the hope of creating a knowledge-based society.
The Chilean President also said that the global economy had moved forward despite the worldwide recession and the recent collapse of the economy. “To strengthen our global political and economic base, preferential trade agreements are needed and more so the integration of mutual technologies and the policies for sustainable growth and development,” she said.
“We are aware of the challenges we have to face while tackling the international financial crisis,” she said, adding that innovation and productivity would be the answer to several of the problems confronting our economy.
She said both countries could explore the possibility of making use of more business opportunities in the area of mining and tourism.
Stating that India had been showing development thanks to the new economic polices, she said that Chile too had shared the challenge posed by the new economic order by making use of the best business practices possible.
