

CHENNAI: A joint action committee of Vanniyar federations said the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) started for the development of the community has now become ``the property of Dr S Ramadoss and his family.’’ In the resolutions adopted at the joint action committee meeting, chaired by Pon Kumar president of Construction Labourers Welfare Board, stated that in the last parliamentary polls, the PMK candidates in all the seven seats it contested were kin of Ramadoss.
It pointed out that all the PMK candidates lost the elections because Vanniyar community was now distancing themselves from the party.
The resolution further said that the PMK chief Ramadoss had decided to enter into an alliance with either DMK or AIADMK over the years for just to promote the political interest of his son.
He said the opportunistic policies followed by the PMK chief was rescinded by the party workers.
“In 1998, it had aligned with AIADMK, in 1999 it was with DMK, in 2001 went back to AIADMK, in 2004 again with DMK and 2009 it joined AIADMK and now the party has come out of AIADMK again.” In other resolutions adopted by the committee, it welcomed the State government’s decision to hold the world Tamil conference.
The meeting condemned the Kerala government’s stand on the Mullaiperiyar issue.
