VELLORE: Sandeep Joshi from Udaipur in Rajasthan, an alumnus of VIT University here, has stepped into the Limca Book of Records (LBR) for creating the first Pi memory poem.
According to LBR, the number of letters in each word of the poem titled ‘Pi Poem’ represents the corresponding digit in the value of Pi. The 21-lined poem alludes to numbers, problems, solutions and other mathematical terms. The 23-year-old had developed it in a fashion that facilitates easy recall of value of Pi up to 132 digits after the decimal.
Sandeep, who is currently employed in Cognizant in Chennai, completed his B Tech in Biotechnology at the university in 2007.
University sources claimed that he had the ability to remember over 10,000 digits after the decimal of Pi. He aspires to be listed in the Guinness Book of Records for memorising the maximum digits after the decimal Pi and recalls the entire value in a short duration.
Interested in mathematics right from his school days he had conducted several workshops in mathematics and memory improvement. He also had the ability to remember over 400 years in the order of the calendar.
Chancellor of VIT University G Viswanathan felt that students of the university should take him as their role model. Pro-Chancellors of the university Sekar Viswanathan and G V Selvam congratulated him.
