CHENNAI: A writ plea has been made to restrain the Kongunadu Munnetra Peravai (KMP), by its president Best Ramasamy and secretary ER Easwaran from using the flag of TN Peasants Workers Party, represented by its president Pon Kumar. And Justice M Jaichandran, before whom the petition came up for hearing today, ordered notice to the respondents.

The main prayer was for a direction to the EC to safeguard the interest of the petitioner party, a recognised political party.

According to Pon Kumar, his party registered by the EC as a recognised political party in December 1991, was assigned a flag having green in the top, yellow in the middle and red at the bottom.

However, the KMP, a communal outfit, started using the flag unauthorisedly.
