VELLORE: Murugan, a death convict, detained at the Vellore Central Prison for Men, and the husband of the Rajiv assassin Nalini, detained in the Vellore Special Prison for Women, is reported to have written a letter to the Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) requesting him to shift his wife to the Puzhal prison.

While news about Nalini facing harassment from prison officials was afloat after she had submitted a set of eight petitions to the ADGP, in one of which she had requested for a shift to Puzhal prison, her husband's reaction to her request has come out for the first time.

It may be recalled that Nalini has been facing a tough time after her plea for premature release was sidelined especially after the seizure of a mobile phone from her person on April 20. Ever since she was shooting off a number of petitions alleging harassment, isolation and more importantly the last one being that her food was being drugged.

While prison officials have denied these allegations, a probe team, which recently conducted an enquiry into this charge, had categorically found that the allegations were false. While the reported petition from Murugan could not be confirmed, sources claimed that he had sent the petition to the ADGP (Prisons), when Nalini was embroiled in the mobile phone case.
