VELLORE: Released after five-month detention at the Vellore Central Prison, film director and Naam Thamizhar Party founder, Seeman vowed to “defeat Karunanidhi in his own constituency in the upcoming assembly election.”

Addressing party cadre and lashing out at Karunanidhi, he said that the chief minister’s only ability these days was to write petitions and essays.

“They should change his title from ‘Kalaignar’ to ‘Kaditham’ (letters) Karunanidhi,” he said.

When asked about the discrepancies in invoking the NSA against him, he said, “Everyone knows that I have been imprisoned unlawfully, because the government wanted me to be quiet. What repercussions will those who indicted me face? We are revolutionaries, wading through politics to see the change we seek,” said Seeman.

Seeman was vocal in his criticism of chief minister as well as Opposition leader Jayalalithaa.

“Karunanidhi has no right to speak of democracy. If he believes that speaking up for Tamils is a crime, then why is the spectrum loss not branded a crime as well?”

He termed the Congress as a bunch of alienists in a party “founded by foreigners”.

Ridiculing them as the “sworn enemy of real Tamils”, Seeman proclaimed that his party would battle them wherever they contested and defeat them.

His counsel Chandrasekaran revealed that, “There have been unnecessary delays every step of the way. Even after receiving the much delayed release order, jail authorities insisted on holding him till there was a confirmation.”
