COIMBATORE: Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, who is on a visit to the city for the two-day Brahmasthanam temple festival being held on Sunday and Monday at Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Nallamapalayam, arrived here on Saturday.

Amma’s spiritual programme includes satsang, bhajan, meditation and darshan on both days besides special poojas to remove the malefic planetary influences of Rahu and Sani and dawn-to-dusk chanting of Lalitha Sahashranama archana.

Mata was accompanied by senior disciples Amritaswaraupananda Puri, Ramakrishnananda Puri, Amirtatananda Puri, Turiyamritananda Puri and Swamini Krishnamrita Prana besides scores of devotees from different parts of the globe.

Earlier on arrival, Amma was received at the Coimbatore ashram by Brahmacharini Abhayamrita Chaitanya, pro-chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Brahmacharini Nirupamamrita Chaintanya, in-charge of Mata Amritanandamayai Math and staff of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Host of luminaries from Coimbatore, Erode, Udhagamandalam, Pollachi and Udumalpet were also present to welcome Amma. Amma’s programme in Coimbatore includes Rahu Dosha Nivarana pooja on January 11 at 7.30 am and Sani Dosha Nivarana pooja at 6.30 pm.

Cultural programmes by students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University and Amrita Vidyalayams also form part of the programme. Yet another feature of the programme is the dance by tribal people from Udhagamandalam and Attapadi.

Brahmasthanam temples are unique centres for welfare, peace and spiritual growth of mankind.

Elaborate arrangements have been made at the math for the festival.

Devotees from far and wide are expected to attend the festival.

Annadanam will be offered on both the days to all devotees taking part in the Brahmasthana Mahotsavam.
