KRISHNAGIRI: Local Administration Minister K P Munusamy on Sunday reviewed the ongoing works of Hogenakkal Drinking Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Scheme in Krishnagiri.

To provide potable drinking water to the populace of Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts, Hogenakkal Drinking Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Scheme works sourcing with Hogenakkal River Cauvery water were being carried out at a cost of Rs 1928.80. The Japanese assistance based scheme works were being carried out under five phase. Minister Munusamy reviewed the ongoing construction works of Phase 2 and Phase 5.

After reviewing the ongoing works, the Minister said that by this scheme, the people of Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Hosur municipalities, 17 town panchayats and 18 panchayat unions (Blocks) would be provided with potable water supply in future. In phase 5, the construction work was being carried out at a cost of Rs 360 crore covering Krishnagiri municipality, Palacode, Karimangalam, Kaveripattinam, Bargur and Krishnagiri blocks and Karimangalam, Marandhalli, Palacode, Pappireddipatti, Nargur, Kaveripattinam and Nagojanahalli town PUs in Krishnagiri district.

He said earth  works and construction of mega water tank  were under progress. Similary, the construction of three water tanks in Mathur union under Phase-2 was also in progress. The officials were ordered to speed up the work and complete it within the stipulated period.

Later, he held discussions with TWAD Chairman-cum-Managing Director R Sudalikkannu, chief engineer N Ravichandran, Superintending Engineer N Prathaban at Mathur.
