SALEM: The AIADMK-DMDK alliance gained an impressive win in all the 11 constituencies in Salem district. Veterans and seniors from the rival DMK alliance lost by huge margins.

In Salem North constituency, Jayaprakash G of the Congress got 59591, while R Mohanraj DMDK got 88,956 and became legislator for the first time in his long political career, known to many as late Valapadi Ramamoorthy's confidante.

In Salem South constituency, S R Sivalingam of the DMK got 52,476, while M K Selvaraj of the AIADMK got 1,12, 691 and won by the largest margin among all the winners.

In Salem West constituency, R Rajenderan of the DMK got 68,274 votes and lost to G Venkatachalam of the AIADMK who got 95, 935. In Veerapandi constituency, A Rajenderan got 73,657 and lost, while AIADMK's S K Selvam got 1,00,155.

The DMK District Secretary and Minister for Agricultrue in the DMK government, Veerapandi S Arumugam, got 70.473 in Sankagiri, while his neice P Vijayalakshmi Palanisamy of AIADMK got 1,05, 502 votes.

In Edappadi Constituency, M Karthic of the PMK got 69,848, while K Palanisamy of AIADMK won with 1,04,586.

In Omalur, A Thamilarasu got 6,55,58 votes, while C Palpakhi Krishnan won by getting 1,12,,102.

In Yercaud constituency, C Thamilselvan of the DMK got 66,639 and lost to C Perumal of AIADMK who got 1,04, 221 and won the constituency. In Attur, S K Arthnari of the Congress got 58 180 vottes, while AIADMK's S Madheswaran got 88,036.

In Gengavalli Constituency, K Chinnadurai of the DMK got 59 457 and R Subbha of the DMDK got 72,922 votes.

Counting of the 18th round could not be done due to a technical snag. The victory of S R Parthian of DM DK who however dediced as only 700 votes remain to be counted in the faulty EVM.

In all, S R Parthiban of the DMDK got 71,478 votes, while PMK state president and sitting MLA G K Mani got 70,379.

According to latest information, the counting of the final round was completed and S R Parthiban got 75,672 while G K Mani got 73, 078 votes.
