CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday said the fate of the new Assembly-cum-Secretariat complex would be decided by the State Cabinet.
Responding to a question, Jayalalithaa told reporters that an autocratic rule had been ended and the people of the State liberated.
She said there was total collapse of the administrative machinery in Tamil Nadu during the past five years.
She expressed confidence that the living standards of the people in the State would go up and she would make Tamil Nadu as the top most in the country.
On the law and order situation, Jayalalithaa said within a day after the AIADMK won the elections, chain snatching incidents had come down drastically in Chennai and those involved in such crimes have moved to Andhra Pradesh. Safety and security would be provided to one and all.
Heads of families need not worry about the safety of their family members at home, she added.
Meanwhile, PMK founder S Ramadoss on Monday asked Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to give up her plan to relocate the Secretariat and Assembly hall to Fort St George as it would be a colossal waste of money to the tune of Rs 1,200 crore spent on building the Secretariat.
