CHENNAI: Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Tuesday conducted a series of searches at the residences and offices of suspected middlemen across the State, in a case against the Chairman and members of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for alleged corruption in recruitment process. Fourteen of the 42 places raided across the State were in Chennai. These included the residences of a retired IPS officer, deputy registrar of TN Co-operative Society and LIC Development office.

DVAC sources said the raids were conducted in the premises of those suspected to be involved in irregularities regarding answer sheets, those who acted as middlemen, those in-charge of competitive exam training centres and those involved in getting government jobs for others through malpractice.

Police sources said in the city they raided the residence of Muruganandham, Deputy Registrar of Tamil Nadu Co-Operative Society at Egmore but working as Joint Director in Fisheries Department, retired under secretary of TNPSC Pichaiappan’s house at Kodambakkam, residence of LIC development officer Raju at Saligramam, the house of Ponnazhagu at Mangadu, the house of TNPSC office car driver Kumar at Triplicane, and another car driver Viswanathan’s house at Pallikaranai.
