PUDUCHERRY: Conduct of classes under the Malayalam Mission Programme of the government of Kerala was inaugurated by MLA E Valasaraj here on Tuesday.

Malayalam Mission Programme director K Suresh Kumar (IAS) lit the Akshara Jyothi and distributed study kits to the children enrolled for the Malayalam classes.

He said the programme would enable the students to obtain certificates and diplomas after the conduct of examinations held by the mission.The function was organised by the Malayala Bhasha Padana Kendram of the Pondicherry Kerala Samajam.

Office bearers of the Chennai Malayalam Mission, including chairman M Nanda Govind, general convener Kumbalangad Unnikrishnan and conveners P A Suresh Kumar, C K Ramachandran and Sandosh Kumar, also spoke.

Salila Ajith, convener, Pondicherry Bhasha Padana Kendram, J Krishnaraju, joint director of Education, Education Department, Kerala Samajam vice president Dinesh Mangalat and samajam joint secretary M P K Mohanan were present. Kerala Samajam president K Rajan presided over the function.
