Sex assault bid on teen at kids’ home

An electrician was arrested here on Monday in connection with an alleged attempt to sexually assault a girl inmate of a children’s home at Paruthikadu run by the Indian Christian Service Society.

A search is on for two more workers of the  home.

According to police, Gunavadhani (name changed) a native of Hosur and a class eight student, was confronted by three male staff of the home in the wee hours of Monday while she was returning to bed from the toilet. According to the victim’s statement to the police, the three men first signaled her to come. But, when she ignored their call they forcibly took her to a corner of the home. However, the girl managed to escape from the trio and ran out of the home. She reached the Parithkadu village and sought the help of locals.

The villagers provided security to the girl and informed the police. The Veeranam police took the girl to the home and asked her identify the trio who tried to misbehave with her. She was able to identify one person identified as A Subramani (33), an electrician. But she could not recognise other two as it was dark when the incident happened.

After interrogations, Subramani was arrested on Monday evening.
