Wife ‘steals’ man’s life

A man ended his life after learning that his wife had been arrested for allegedly stealing saris from her workplace in Kumbakonam, on Friday.

Anand Kumar (37) committed suicide at his residence after his wife Parimala Devi (32) was arrested for stealing saris worth Rs 30,000 from a shop. Parimala Devi was employed in a cloth store located on Nageshwarankoil North Street. While working, she allegedly lifted a bundle of saris from the shop and hid them. Later, she took the bundle to Pattiswaram and attempted to sell them.

However, customers grew  suspicious of Parimala, when she quoted a low price.  They approached the same cloth store to check the quality and price of the saris. When the owners of the store realised that the saris were similar to the ones that were missing, they became suspicious. It was a matter of time before they realised that Parimala Devi had stolen the bundle. The owners informed the police and Parimala Devi was arrested and subsequently lodged in the Tiruchy prison.

Meanwhile, unable to bear his wife’s arrest, Anand committed suicide. His relatives, claimed that the police had man handled him.

Drunkard kills wife for cash

A man murdered his wife when she refused him money to buy liquor near Paladam late on Friday night. Police said that Murugesan (32), a mason  from P Vadugapalayam near Paladam, was living with his wife Ranchitha (30) and his two sons in a rented house. A habitual drunkard, Murugesan used to frequently quarrel with his wife.

On Friday night , Murugesan came home in an inebriated state and demanded more money for drink. When she refused, an argument broke out. Anger-ed, he suddenly grabbed a knife and stabbed her. Ranchitha sustained severe injuries on her abdomen, neck, on her back and she died on the spot. Murugesan fled the scene immediately.

A case has been registered and a search has been launched for Murugesan.
