Former DMK MLA in the Tamil Nadu Assembly S S Ponmudi diedat his residence here today after a prolonged illness, his family said.
Ponmudi (58), who represented Palladam assembly constituencyin the district during 1996-2001, leaves behind wife, three daughters and ason.
Ponmudi was the President of the Sulur panchayat.
Among those who visited Ponmudi's house and paid homageincluded DMK treasurer, M K Stalin, MLA and T R Baalu, MP.
