The Election Commission of India on Monday appointed four IAS officers as Roll Observers by the Election Commission of India for the Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2013.
Secretary (Finance) Raajiv Yaduvanshi was appointed for the Puducherry region, Secretary (Power) P R Meena was appointed for the Karaikal region, Secretary to Lieutenant Governor D K Mishra will take charge of Mahe region and while Secretary (Industries) W V R Murthy will be the Roll Observer for Yanam.
Addressing reporters here, Chief Electoral Officer T Sreekanth said the draft electoral rolls for Summary Revision 2013 would be published on October 16 while the revision would continue till October 31. As per the draft roll there are 8,26,257 voters in the Union Territory, including 3,97,644 males, 4,28,170 females, nine others and 434 service voters.
Sreekanth said citizens whose age would be equal to or more than 18 years as on January 1, 2013 could include their names in the electoral rolls. Change of address, corrections and deletions could also be made during this period.
A special campaign for the same would be held from October 21 to 28. On other days, voters can visit polling stations in their areas for inclusion, deletion, correction and or any other clarification. The claims and objections would be heard from November 1 to 30. The final rolls would be published on January 5, he added. People can call on toll-free number 1905 for any assistance regarding the electoral rolls.
