Jayalalithaa inaugurates slew of public utility projects

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday inaugurated a slew of government projects, buildings and facilities across the State through videoconferencing. These ranged from upgraded hospitals and eco parks to administrative buildings and knowledge networks.

Jayalalithaa inaugurated the upgraded facilities at Chennai Corporation’s Communicable Diseases Hospital and a dental care centre at Ullagaram - Puzhuthivakkam. Also opened were a rest house at the park on Haddows Road in Nungambakkam and a study centre at Ullagaram-Puzhuthivakkam. These were built at a sum of `20.92 crore.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated 36 housing units for conservancy workers of the Tiruchy Corporation and new office buildings for the Aranthangi and Perambalur Municipalities, built at a cost of `4.1 crore.

Jayalalithaa inaugurated the administrative building for ELCOT at the ELCOSEZ special economic zone at Sozhinganallur. She also initiated work to integrate the National Knowledge Network (NKN), the Tamil Nadu State Data Centre (TNSDC) and the Tamil Nadu State Wide Area Network (TNSWAN).

Jayalalithaa received ISO 20000 certification for TNSDC and ISO 27000 for information security from the certification company Det Norske Veritas.

The eco-park in Coutrallam, which has been undergoing renovation and upgradation, was also inaugurated.

Minister and Secretaries of the concerned departments and other high-level government officials were present at the inauguration ceremony, which was held at the Secretariat.
