Dr V Aravinth Reddy, Tamil Nadu medical cell secretary of BJP and Vellore district president of Indian Medical Association was murdered by three unidentified men on Tuesday night in front of his clinic at Lakshmana Perumal Koil Street, in Kosapet.

Around 7.30 pm, Dr Reddy was attacked from behind with sickles. When he tried to escape, the attackers chased and hacked him to death. Police officials said eight to 10 deep cuts were found on Reddy’s shoulder, back of the head, chest, neck and abdomen.
“It was a pre-planned murder,” said a police officer, adding, “The way the murder took place indicates that the killers were following Reddy for some time to know about his regular activities.”
