At a time when leader of the main opposition party DMDK, Vijayakanth, is criticising Jayalalithaa government on many counts, the party’s treasurer and another MLA called on the the Chief Minister and hailed the welfare measures being implemented by her.
R Sundarrajan, a close friend of Vijaykanth and DMDK treasurer, representing Madurai Central Assembly constituency and K Tamil Azhagan, representing Tittakudi (SC) Assembly constituency, told reporters that they met the CM at the Secretariat to bring to her notice the long-pending grievances of the people of their respective constituencies.
When asked whether they had informed their party leader about the meeting with the Chief Minister, Sundarrajan and Tamil Azhagan said they had met the CM as “representatives of the people”. Asked whether they would be joining the AIADMK, both MLAs said they had met the CM only in connection with the grievances of the people of their constituencies. “Amma will fulfil the demands of the people of our constituencies. We will extend our support to the AIADMK government forever since it has been implementing many welfare schemes for the people,” both MLAs said and added that the CM had assured that the issues in their constituencies would be set right.
