The Sripuram Golden Temple campus will witness the installation of deity Swarnalakshmi, finely crafted using 70 kg of gold. This was informed by Sakthi Amma, the pontiff of Sri Narayani Peedam, here on Friday.

The two-and-half-foot idol sculpted by Erode-based sculptor Radhakrishnan over a period of five months, has four hands. The ‘eye opening’ ceremony would be held on Saturday at 4 pm at the Shanthi Mantapam in the temple campus. The idol would be kept there for 48 days and Srishuktha Yagnam would be performed three times a day. After this, the Swarnalakhsmi idol would be temporarily installed at the Deepa Mantapam.

Describing the installation of the Golden idol of Swarnalakshmi as one of the biggest spiritual treasures in the world, Sakthi Amma said another the Vishnu idol ‘Sripura Srinivasan’ would be installed in the temple complex when the Swarnalakshmi idol is shifted to the Artha Mantapam, to be constructed in front of the Sripura Srinivasan temple.

During the 48-day period, devotees coming to Sripuram would be allowed to perform pujas for the Swarnalakshmi idol by performing ‘tulsi water’ abishekam on the idol. “While we can buy anything for money in this world, we cannot buy peace of mind which could be gifted by God alone,” Sakthi Amma noted.

The Sripuram temple administration has been finding new ways to help people get the blessings of the almighty, he added.
