The CM also announced special measures for ensuring Kuruvai cultivation to the maximum. The measures included supply of three-phase power for 12 hours, distribution of 6,000 HDPE pumps, pesticides, bio-fertilisers and micro-nutrients free of cost.

These steps are aimed at helping farmers in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Cuddalore. Supply of three-phase power for 12 hours would start from Saturday and last until September-end. Farmers supplying water to fields would be given  6,000 HDPE pipes (180 m X 90 mm). For this, `12 Cr would be allotted and an additional `6 Cr for bio-fertilisers, micro-nutrients and pesticides.
