Three Namakkal students have bagged the top two ranks in the Plus Two State Board examinations (two first and a second), while four others from the district share the State third rank.

With 1,189 marks out of 1,200, S Jayasurya, a student of the Vidya Vikas Boys Higher Secondary School in Tiruchengode, shares the first rank with S Abinesh of Greenpark Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Namakkal.

“I aimed for a State rank. My parents, teachers and school directors helped me achieve this,” Jayasurya said.

A resident of Pavadi Street in Tiruchengode, Jayasurya has scored centum in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology while his marks in Tamil, English and Physics are 197, 194 and 198 respectively.

Jayasurya’s mom S Ananthi said, “We expected him to secure a State rank and he has fulfilled our dreams.” Ananthi had been pivotal in her son’s achievement as she had to shoulder the burden of running the family after her husband was bedridden after an accident in 2003.

At Greenpark Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, students burst crackers to welcome Abinesh, the other topper. “My hardwork has paid dividends,” said Abinesh, attributing his success to his parents, teachers and school directors.

He hails from Dindigul district. For his parents - P Sekar, Assistant Manager, Indian Bank, Madurai, and mother R Latha, a PG Assistant in the Government HSS, Sevvalpatti, Manapparai - it was a pleasant surprise. “We expected him to score a State rank. But it is so delighting that he is one of the toppers,” said Sekar.

Abinesh has scored centums Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics and 196 and 193 in Tamil and English respectively. Latha said she and her husband had never pressured Abinesh in studies. “We have not forced him to do anything as far as the preparations for the examination were concerned. We left him free and he has brought us laurels,” the ecstatic mother said.

Another student from Namakkal, S Palaniraj of Vidya Vikas Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Varahuranpatti, Tiruchengode, shares the second rank with R Ahalya of Hosur.

He has scored 1,188 with full marks in four subjects.

“I concentrated on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and that fetched me the State rank,” the boy hailing from Virudhunagar said.

Apart from the three, four other Namakkal students - three from Greenpark MHSS and one from Kurinji MHSS - share the third rank with  five others in the State with 1,187 marks.

E Kalaivani of Kurinji MHSS, Namakkal, and V Vishnu Varthan, A K Kanmani and U Manothini from Greenpark MHSS, are the third rank holders.

“Hardwork, motivation, regular tests and right guidance are the key to their success,” said SPN Saravanan, the Correspondent of Greenpark MHSS.
