A fact-finding team of the National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations has alleged that Muslims are being falsely implicated in the April-17 Bangalore blast case by the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police by fabricating evidence. So far 11 Muslims, most of whom belong to Coimbatore, have been arrested in connection with the blast, which took place near the BJP office in Bangalore city.

The team is headed by the organisation’s TN state president and leading Erode-based lawyer, Bhavani B Mohan. The report states that even before the investigations began, the FIR filed by the Bangalore police said the blast had been carried out by members of terrorist and anti-national organisations. The team members have also questioned the police theory that a SIM card belonging to a RSS leader, which was used to trigger the blast, was stolen just a day earlier. The members questioned why the leader’s name has not been revealed so far.

“The police are trying to downplay this by saying that the RSS leader’s phone was stolen just a day prior to the blast. This argument seems very dubious. It strengthens our suspicion that the April-17 blast was stage-managed in view of the impending assembly elections in Karnataka,” claimed Mohan.

The fact-finding team said, “The arrested were subjected to cruelty by police.  The accused said they are being forced by police to implicate PDP founder Abdul Nasser Madani in the case. Buhari is also being pressured to give up his efforts to provide legal assistance to those falsely implicated in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast case,” the report alleged.
