Puducherry got respite from the summer heat after the cyclone that formed off the Coast of Odisha crossed the Bay of Bengal, resulting in cold weather on Thursday afternoon.

The Meterological Department attributed the sudden change of weather to the cyclone’s effect and said that the usual summer climate was expected to be back on Friday. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a low pressure area in the next 24 hours. Squally winds, at a sp-eed of 40-50 kmph, will prevail off the West Bengal coasts and sea conditions will be rough, said officials.
