The Madras High Court on Thursday permitted VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan to travel through Villupuram district to reach Chidambaram and Puducherry on May 30 and 31 to enable him to accompany the visiting Parliamentary Committee on Local Area Development Scheme, subject to certain conditions.

Passing interim orders on a petition from Thirumavalavan challenging an order dated May 16, 2013 of the Villupuram Collector, which restrained him from entering the district, vacation judge K K Sasidharan granted permission for two days.

Among other things, the judge said Thirumavalavan should not alight from the vehicle in which he travels or stop it in Villupuram.
