Two drivers were killed and four others injured in a multiple lorry collision on bypass road on the outskirts in the early hours of today.
The mishap occurred, when a detergent powder-laden lorry, coming from Karnataka attempted to overtake another lorry going from the city, without noticing a speeding lorry coming from the opposite direction, on Nilambur Bypass, police said.
The 32-year old Munirangan, a native of Konapatti of Dharmapuri, driving the Karnataka lorry, died on the spot, while 50 year old Periyasami of Karur, driver of the lorry carrying soft drinks, died on way to the government hospital, they said.
Another driver, Rajendran from the city, with seriour injuries on the leg and three others were admitted to the hospital, police said.
