The unit-1 of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) has reached generating 400 MWe for the first time on Friday.
The Unit-1 of KKNPP was synchronized to the southern grid on Oct 22, and generation was increased up to 160 MWe, but was stopped after 2 hours, following which, it was resumed on Oct 25, and the power was increased up to 300 MWe. Generation was stopped on Oct 29. The unit-1 was synchronized to the grid on Nov 10.
The plant sources said the power generation of Unit-1 of KKNPP had reached 400 MWe on Friday. After completing the tests, AERB would be approached for clearance to increase generation.
