Security around Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tirunelveli district has been beefed up following a threat by an outfit about picketing it, police said today.
A little-known Kerala-based outfit protesting against the plant has announced it would picket the Indo-Russian joint venture project, police added.
Anti-nuclear activists have been protesting against the plant citing safety concerns. The first 1000MW reactor at the plant had gone critical in July and generation of power is expected soon
