Fake 'Babu' claims links with ministers

The fake IAS officer, Madhu Ganesh Menon, arrested by the police in a cheating case in New Delhi, has claimed that he had close connections with ministers and bureaucrats, both in the Central and state government.

Sources in Madurai crime branch told that Ganesh during inquiries said, “Using my close contacts, I  made deals with top-level businessmen to obtain licences. I am also a member of a famous club at which several ministers and officials used to meet the intermediaries to finalise deals.” He claimed that he paid an amount to a Union Minister through his personal secretary for a medical seat. But unfortunately, he could not allot the seat as he was busy in a disaster rescue works in northern states.

Madhu Ganesh also confessed to the police that he visited Madurai four times during which the complainants were introduced by an intermediary, Ganapathy.

After the preliminary investigation, police raided his house and arrested his father Sridharan in Ernakulam three months ago. They also seized an air gun and fake visiting cards claiming that he was an IAS officer in the planning department at Prime Minister’s Office at New Delhi. Police went to New Delhi on Sept 17 and arrested him on Sept 21.
