It is not wrong to trifurcate TN and increase the number of states in the nation upto 50, said Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) general secretary E R Eswaran.

Talking to Express, he said on the lines of the demands for Gorka Land, Bodo Land, Vidarabha and 4 states in the UP, his party also wanted the formation of Kongu Naadu as a separate state with Coimbatore as its capital.

The southern districts could be made into a separate state Madurai as its headquarters. The rest of the districts could function in the name of TN with Chennai as the capital, he suggested and opined that such trifurcation of the state would in no way affect the cultural identity of Tamils.
