The core committee meeting on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) has decided to devise targeted intervention in areas where less number of voter turnout was recorded in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections and Assembly elections in 2011.

From the records available, the polling stations with less voter turnout were mapped. It was found that a large chunk of areas mapped falls within the town limits of Oulgaret, Kadirkamam, lndira Nagar, Thattanchavady, Kamaraj Nagar, Lawspet, Muthialpet, Rajbhavan and Ouppulam and Orleanpet.

The meeting proposed to conduct special voters awareness programmes such as street plays, appeal letters to voters residing in these areas through their children and door-to-door distribution of hand bills with the help of volunteers.

The students of School for Performing Arts of Pondicherry University have been roped in to perform street plays at 18 locations adjoining these areas for around 6 days.
